Fernando Alexandre

Fernando Alexandre was born in 1972. 

He has a BA and MA in Economics from the University of Coimbra and a PhD in Economics from the University of London, Birkbeck College, UK, in 2003.

He is an Associate Professor at the University of Minho.

He was Pro-Rector of the University of Minho, President of the School of Economics and Management and Director of the Department of Economics. 

He was vice-president of the Economic and Social Council.

He was a consultant for the Francisco Manuel dos Santos Foundation. 

He is a researcher and author or coordinator of eight books on the Portuguese economy, and has published articles in international scientific journals.

He has been a consultant to public and private entities such as the European Commission and the Portuguese Government.

He was Assistant Secretary of State to the Minister for Home Affairs in the 19th Constitutional Government, from 2011 to 2015. 

He is a regular contributor to the media.
