Luís Tinoco is a composer, producer of new music programmes for the Antena 2/RTP and, for this same radio, he is also the artistic director of the Young Musicians’ Prize and its Festival. He also lectures at the Escola Superior de Musica in Lisbon. 

Tinoco’s catalogue includes chamber music, vocal and stage works, as well as compositions performed by various orchestras such as the Radio France Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, London Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, Orquestra Gulbenkian, São Paulo Symphony – OSESP,  Porto Casa da Música SymphonyPortuguese Symphony, Lisbon Metropolitan, among other. 

His music is available on commercial CDs recorded with the Orquestra Gulbenkian (Naxos 2013) and the Ensemble Lontano (Lorelt 2005). In 2018 Odradek records released a CD with world première recordings of his orchestral music. Also for Odradek, Tinoco recorded “Archipelago” – an album fully devoted to his percussion works. In 2022, the new label Artway Next released “Aleppo and other silences”, focused on Tinoco’s chamber music. 

Since 2016 Luís Tinoco is Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. He also holds a PhD from the University of York.
